"Documents" is a small Document Management System (DMS).


"Documents" is a small Document Management System (DMS). It stores documents in various file formats in a global and client-specific folder structure. It supports multiple versions of a document. There's also a nice Getting started guide for it.

Main window & data structure

The program handles a global folder tree, which is provided to all clients. Additionally, users can create folders specific to a single client. Global folders have blue color, while client-specific folders have violet color. The folder tree is shown on the left side of the main window.

On the upper right side of the window, the documents of the selected folders are listed. Each document can have a title, a comment and a "logical date". The logical date can be the last day of the year for a business report, or the deadline of a tax declaration.

Directly below, different versions of the selected document are displayed, together with some meta-data. Click on the version icon to show a popup menu, which gives you the possibility of saving this version as a file to disk.

Importing documents

  1. Select the folder you want to import.
  2. Choose "File" - "Import document" or drag a file to the document list.
  3. Fill out the import dialog.

Importing document versions

  1. Select the document you want to add a new version to.
  2. Choose "File" - "Import version".

External document access

To access any stored documents outside of this application, you can use the DocServer and a WebDAV compatible web browser / file manager.
